Forgive me for leaving it so long between blog posts! I have been lucky enough to attend a wedding in Rarotonga then subsequently nursing a mild dance injury- saw hip from carving serious shapes on the sand/ D-floor with the amazing people I was travelling with! I must have looked awesome to endure that much pain!
Being in the Cook islands, as always is an opener for me. It was my third time visiting Aitutaki and I am always surprised what my friends there get by with. They take living simply to a whole new level and I love it. The kitchens I have seen there are basic- to say the least, but the food produced out of those kitchens are incredible! Are we spoilt here??
The first thing on my “do I need this” list is butlers pantry’s & scullery’s!!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love designing a good scullery… choosing places for platter divisions, hiding a fridge here, and a sweet electric servo-drive bin there… Oh! The food that will be produced from this space! But realistically, do we neeeed these spaces? Should we not just look at investing more into just the kitchen? I know every house hold is different and different strokes for different folks… But I just thought I would share what was going through the mind of your friendly kitchen designer today.
FYI tomorrow I will love sculleries. After this living simply moment has past…
Until then, here is a couple pictures of some sculleries I have completed and a photo pre- dance moves on beautiful Raro.
