The heart of the home.

Some people think kitchens are all a-like. People say to me, “Kris, be honest, a kitchen is a kitchen, right?”

No. I guess to some people, kitchens are like how cars are to me, kind of all the same- just different colours. A necessary tool to get from day to day. Given that, essentially, a kitchen is a tool to nourish our bodies and feed us and to prevent us from visiting the local chippy every night. We need to make this tool not just pretty to look at, but functional within all budgets, sizes and looks.  Especially as a lot of us may use the kitchen for longer than an hour a day- every day!

So here are a few of my favourite accessories. These ones are all from Access Group (Fabulous range! You could get carried away!) I like these because..

  1. They fit most budgets!

  2. I am kind of lazy when it comes to cooking, honestly. Hate low spots, corners and cleaning. I’m busy!  I want good food, but I don’t want to struggle to get it! This is where these come in.

  3. I love the Granny’s and Grandpas of this world and their little granny homes and these accessories CAN be retrofitted. So next time you pop into Nan's for a cuppa, suss out her cupboards and see if we can make life a little easier for her by fitting one or two of these bad boys. Nan doesn’t need to be getting on her knees any more!

Two Tier corner unit.

I Love this. Often we have a “blind” corner in a kitchen, whether the kitchen is new or old. Sometimes in a big kitchen we block off the corner, making it void, opting for wider drawers. But in some designs, you need that corner space and to maximise the corner- this fits the bill! At a good price point. Best thing- each shelf swivels out into the kitchen, so can be loaded then pushed away! (sore backs sing out hooray!) Shelves take the weight too. Kitchen Mixer- all good here.

Under bench storage unit.

Not much to say other than these are awesome. Small space? All good lots of widths to choose from. Oils, spices & condiments. Tick. Dividers to stop anything moving around? Tick. Non slip , easy clean bases? Tick. PLUS soft close. Love.

Under bench pull out.

Why have shelves when you can have a solid base pull out with non-slip bases and soft closing? Lots of widths to choose from. These go into almost every scullery I design. Veg, canned food, you name it! My customers adore these.

Pull out pantry.

Small kitchen with small pantry space? Maximise it with this guy. Have a scullery but feels like it’s a half marathon away from the hob? This is ideal in the main cooking space to have every day foods on hand.

Finally we have the laundry...

Pull out Laundry hamper.

Laundries should be gorgeous just like the kitchen. We are all being more careful with our clothes now days and we have finally learnt to separate our colours from whites. Well that’s not always true…. I am the only one in my house that has figured that out. However, these are a brilliant way to keep washing separate, but not out on display! Even if you only have one, keeping your dirty laundry hidden keeps laundry looking great and when your friends visit they are envious that you are all up to date on your chores. Win, win.
