To stage or not to stage?

December 10, 2016

That’s the burning question!!

We had an estate agent call in on us this week to plant the seed of listing with them (applause on being so pro-active!) We got talking about how we would like to sell the house…. And shock horror, the agent recommended we don’t stage the house! What!? If I have learnt anything at all from watching every episode to date of “million dollar listing” is that you must always stage!! That said… ours is unfortunately not a million dollar listing…

Please send me your opinion on this via Facebook, if you have any advice on this!

To be honest, I was really looking forward to seeing it all staged and looking beautiful like my very own show home… but at the end of the day- its an investment… right!? Not my life size dolls house?

We have progress on all fronts. Another busy week with tradies ferreting around putting in underfloor heating, light switches and kitchen installers fitting cabinets- Love this part, obviously. We are at the It looks just the right size stage and the fun stuff is all going in. All but flooring… I am busy with clients and one of my renovations missed the flooring installation date as things were tracking a little bit behind- It’s a big reno. “Never fear” I said, “You can have my flooring installation date!” After all, we don’t need flooring- we don’t live there! So I will post photos with flooring down next year.

Jason & Drew are working hard on the Cedar facings around the windows… which I am loving. We have had a few- why not, moments. Why not paint the window reveals/ arcs the same colour as the aluminium windows? (Black!) Why not paint the entry ceiling black? Why not do coloured shelves and backs in most of the kitchen? -ok so that’s not an entirely new concept…

Still to go- bench tops, flooring, lighting, wallpaper landscaping…. Oh… not as close to the finishing line as I thought!

Entry- we are going to plant out a lush fernery on the other side of that big window + oak floors. Should feel cool walking down the hallway next to a small rain forest..

 Pantry- bifolds...

Pantry interior- internal drawers  + lighting still to be fitted

Cedar starting to go on...
