Ovens...

October 2, 2016

This week I met with my appliance legend, Craig Blanchfield at Harvey Norman Commercial Tower Junction to order some appliances for the Lake house project.

I did have a bit of an idea of what I wanted but not really enough to just order- this made me nervous as I told Craig “I won’t take long, I know your busy!”, Because like any good woman, I’m a cracker at changing my mind! (shot Jas for putting up with this year after year). Anyway, I had it in my head that I like the Idea of a single oven, plus a smaller compact oven with a warming draw. One MUST be Pyrolytic. Pyrolytic you say? What is this? An oven that enjoys fire and politics? No. Its self-cleaning! Yes- believe it. It cleans itself. Magical.

I was not there long before I decided that in-fact I don’t want a warming drawer, I just want two full sized ovens. How practical! Especially at Christmas time! One can me the messy everyday oven- the Pyrolytic! And one can be cakes etc and act as the warming drawer… Sold.

Now which Brand?? I am considering Fisher & Paykel- good looking, good, makes a roast like a Masterchef. Or… Ariston? Getting pretty fancy! Or Electrolux? I love the Electrolux style. Just a bit different & very clean lined.

Hob? Induction. – You know the magnetic hob that boils water in about 30 seconds… yes, yes “special” pots required BUT most modern pots are fine. It’s just the older ones that won’t work. Go on, splash out on some new pots! I feel like the sleek minimal design and look of induction will suit the style of this kitchen well.

Rangehood? Inbuilt please. Quiet & easy clean please.

Dishwasher- Integrated. For me, always integrated.

Appliances that work well for your family are a key element as to how your house hold works. Not to mention the positioning of these appliances. Its important to consider they style & cuisine of cooking your do first before designing a kitchen & choosing appliances.  It’s a huge investment, so get it right!

This is the F & P oven I like, minus the knobs- I would go touch screen.

This is the Ariston. How reflective is this glass!

This is my oven at home. I chose it for the look, bit its turned out to be one of my best purchases. It's a Belling. Most of the time I only need to use the small top oven. Heats to temp in about 2 minutes.
