The house is at the ‘it looks too small!” Stage….

August 10, 2016

An eventful couple of weeks on the lakeside project- no thanks to me. My input extended as far as breezing onto site late in the day Saturday, suggesting multiple changes, knowing full well my builder was tired, in need of a Corona and a pepper steak pie. The reception was not great- at the time, but Sunday morning rolled around and he did confirm those changes and set of for another day on the tools.

It’s amazing how a space feels at framing stage and how different that feels from just floor stage. The floor on its own looks so tiny! So many of my customers freak out at floor pour… “How are we going to fit in this house!”… Relaaaaax I explain… you will think it’s too BIG when gib goes on! It’s a process. There is a lot to be said about looking at a job half (or quarter) done.

I have been working hard on the kitchen and other design details such as hardware style, finish, wall colours, flooring and tiles! I have even made my own wallpaper for the master bedroom! Resene have this amazing DIY site where you can create your own! I really fancy the idea of a watercolour look wallpaper. When I fixate on something like this I go into a “I MUST have it!” frenzy… now… I just have to get it past the board… (Jas).

Here is where its heading colour wise plus photos of progress… (Taking photos today, a poor scaffolding guy looked awfully stressed I was going to catch him out demolishing his morning smoko… Its ok! I am only a paparazzi of houses!)

 - The kitchen mixer (Plumbline "Buddy") will be either black or brushed gold...most likely black.

Ill keep ya'all posted with progress. We are getting to the fun stuff soon!
